the advances in technology, scopes are able to produce
clearer images at even further distances than before.

The following information is intended to provide an
introduction to some of the scopes and other optics that
we sell.
Scopes
There are a number of reasons why a hunter may decide
to use a scope with his rifle. Scopes are easier on your
eyes than struggling to focus on thin iron sights. Also,
the magnification available with modern scopes allows
you to clearly view exactly what you are shooting. This
way you will be able to determine if a distant target is
a small buck or actually a doe. Finally, scopes allow
for more accurate shot placement from a distance.
After determining the scope, which will work best for
you, you will want to make sure that you purchase the
proper bases and rings to mount your scope on your
rifle. Base and ring combos ensure a tighter fit, but
may limit your options. For best results, it is
important that the bases and rings that you select
create a secure fit for your scope on your rifle.
Binoculars
In addition to a good scope, a hunter may want a good
pair of binoculars also. Binoculars allow you to easily
see a clear picture of objects at far distances. When
purchasing a pair of binoculars you will need to
consider the distance, which you will need to be able to
see as well as the weight and size limitations you may
have. Binoculars that allow you to see the greatest
distances are often the heaviest and most bulky in size.
Therefore, it is important to consider how much you will
be carrying your binoculars with you when purchasing a
new pair. Finally, keep in mind that you will want a
pair of binoculars that is durable enough to withstand
everyday wear and tear.
In addition to hunting, there are several other
reasons people may desire a quality pair of binoculars.
For example, sports fans will want binoculars to get a
better view of the field when at games. Bird watchers
also benefit from the use of a quality pair of
binoculars.
Rangefinders
Rangefinders allow hunters to determine the distance
between them and their targets. One convenient option on
a rangefinder is scan mode. This mode, which is
available on some rangefinders, such as the Bushnell
Medalist, will seek out a moving object in the distance
and then follow it. This can be very handy when tracking
game. Other rangefinders, such as the Nikon Monarch
Laser 800, can be mounted on a tripod for hands free
use.
Not only do hunters find rangefinders to be a very
useful tool, but golfers also can benefit from the use
of this tool. Golfers can use rangefinders to determine
the exact distance to a hole for a more accurate shot.
Spotting and Telescopes
Spotting scopes are small telescopes, which have been
modified to be easily carried and used during day light.
In addition to being smaller and lower magnification
instruments than astronomical telescopes, most spotting
scopes, including the Nikon Spotter XL, are waterproof
and fog proof. Spotting scopes can be easily mounted on
a basic camera tripod, however, some spotters even come
with a tripod included, such as with the Bushnell
Imageview 15-45v50mm 2.1MP Spotter.
